Pricing

This is a difficult question to answer because each stone is unique. It depends on what you want done with the stone and the quality of the stone itself. The larger the stone, the more time it takes to cut/polish, the higher the price will be. Smaller stones take considerably less time to cut/polish and thus the price would be lower. The difficulty level of the cutting will also affect the price. The more inclusions in the stone the more difficult it is to cut. Certain materials are inherently more difficult than others. And for these reasons, I can not make an assessment without the stone in hand, so that I can view it in detail under magnification to see which is the best shape/size/weight, and to determine 3-dimensionally where the fractures/inclusions are which will pose issues with the cutting and polishing process.

If I have the stone in hand, I can properly assess it and provide you with a detailed recommendation, along with possibilities appropriate to the stone, and with a price quote. My fee is $45.00 for this service. If you decide you do not wish the stone cut, I will return it to you at my expense. However, if you decide you want to proceed with having the stone cut, I will waive the assessment fee.

Please fill in the cutting request form as best you can (the more information, the better) and I will reply as quickly as I am able.

Please Note:

I do not work with Opals or Turquoise, and I specialize in faceted gems, not cabochons, concave curves, or any fantasy cut styles, due to the different equipment required.

Due to the nature of each individual rough, I cannot guarantee the weight in carats. It is a "You get what you get" situation, I cannot alter nature.

However, I will do my utmost best to make the best gemstone as possible.
